As part of this transformation, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU) as a Fingerprint Laboratory Technician. Working alongside Laboratory personnel, you will provide technical and clerical support to the Fingerprint Development Laboratory, ensuring equipment is serviceable; maintenance and calibration checks are completed on schedule; and ensuring stocks of forensic consumables and chemicals are both adequate and fit for purpose. In addition, you will provide an administrative function and carry out quality assurance checks of casework in order to provide an efficient and effective service to the public.
In this unique role, you will form part of a dynamic team, responding to changing priorities in line with investigative requirements. Flexibility to manage, and respond to operational demands is key. The role requires a high level of customer service and common sense, being able to deal with potential difficult and unpleasant subject matter and situations whilst presenting a professional interface between FIU and its customers in support of the organisational requirement to secure detections and convictions.
