Volunteer - Gardening Enthusiast

Milton Keynes Police Station
Milton Keynes
As and when required

Do you find yourself listening to gardener's question time wishing you had a place to prune?

Are you interested in supporting the welfare of officers and staff?

Can you wield a pair of secateurs with some idea of what to prune and what to leave?

Then we need you for our welfare garden at Milton Keynes Police Station!

We are looking for 2 enthusiastic gardeners perhaps once or twice a week to help us maintain (and expand) our low maintenance garden in the station - duties will include, pruning, weeding, a little planting and refreshing, watering and harvesting our fruit and veg efforts when the time comes. Lots of scope to expand and plant new areas should you wish, and your efforts will be enjoyed by everyone at the station allowing them decompression time and space.

The area is on gravel which can be uneven and the planted raised beds are quite low so bending and being steady on your feet/wheels or other mode of transport is essential but other than that anyone is welcome!

If you have a few hours to spare (around 3-5 per week) then please complete the online application form. If you have any queries on completing the application form, please contact People Services Recruitment Department on 0845 2 66 66 77, quoting reference 16123.

Please note this vacancy will be removed once sufficient candidates have been sourced.

As a volunteer within the police service, you will be subjected to a level of police vetting. The level will be dependent upon the role and it’s access requirements. With the higher levels of vetting, applicants could be asked to provide details of family members, partner, partner’s parents and co-residents, as well as additional information regarding their own personal circumstances. This process is required to ensure that Thames Valley Police comply with the legislation of the Vetting Code of Practice

Whilst we endeavour to complete all vetting within 30 working days of receipt of vetting forms, unfortunately this is not always the case due to operational demand and back-logs, and could take considerably longer.

If you have any concerns or queries regarding your application please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Police Officers and Police Staff have access to a fantastic range of benefits, dependant on role, location and length of service. To view a full list of our benefits please click here

All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner. Thames Valley Police will allow applicants to apply who do not necessarily reach the criteria as long as they have proven UK residency and supporting evidence where necessary. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
