This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to work within a complex multi-agency environment dealing with all aspects of Counter Terrorism, Right Wing Terrorism and Left, Anarchist and Single Issue Terrorism. (Previously referred to as DE Domestic Extremism). The successful candidate should have an interest in Counter-Terrorism and a willingness to undertake training and hold responsibilities relevant to this specialist role.

As a Field Intel and Operations officer, you will be working closely with local, regional and national partner agencies. You will develop and maintain professional relationships in order to maximize the exchange of information and intelligence, responding to threat and risk. You will therefore need to demonstrate excellent professional and collaborative abilities.

You will be required to proactively gather and submit intelligence from communities to enhance the wider CT intelligence picture in line with the CTPSE and Kent Control Strategy. A good knowledge and understanding of the collection, assessment and management of intelligence is essential along with knowledge of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Regulation of Investigative Powers Act, 2000 (RIPA), Management of Police Information (MOPI) and Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act, 1996 (CPIA).

The successful applicant will be required to assist forces in the planning, intelligence development and attendance (as necessary) of Counter Terrorism impacted events and operations, providing operational resilience to spontaneous, critical and major incidents.

Part of the role will be to plan and administer lifestyle management operations around those individuals with relevant Counter Terrorism risk. Working in conjunction with the Fixed Intelligence Management Unit (FIMU) you will receive and manage actions to enhance intelligence relating to mitigating the wider Counter Terrorism threat and risk.

This opportunity would suit a highly-motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic individual who can perform the role with little supervision and self-task. You will need to manage time efficiently, work well under pressure and deal with conflicting demands. Having excellent communication and interpersonal skills is essential with the ability to communicate information effectively at strategic and tactical levels, producing top quality reports.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of working in a team environment, have the ability to develop top class products that can be shared at local, regional and national level. The applicant should therefore be competent in the use of Police IT systems such as Athena, PNC and Microsoft Office products, with the ability to be trained on bespoke IT platforms. The successful candidate should ideally also have Anti-Terrorism experience.

 

This post requires frequent access to the most sensitive intelligence and material. The post holder must have a high level of personal integrity and professionalism. The applicant should be aware that this role may expose them to violent, disturbing or extreme material.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to Developed Vetting (DV) level. Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home and providing an on call capability.
