Secondment/Fixed Term Contract for 23 months
Two brilliant opportunities have arisen to join the Thames Valley Police’s Corporate Communications department as Communications Officers.
This job plays a vital role in helping achieve our collective mission to protect our communities, by Fighting Crime, Serving Victims, Valuing Our People and Building Trust.
What do we do?
There has never been a more exciting time to work in police communications. Our work is incredibly diverse which could see you supporting high profile incidents, investigations and large-scale policing operations. You could be providing communications support for State Visits one minute, planning messaging around Reading Festival the next or delivering campaigns that make a difference. We want to add to our team of great storytellers so we can continue to showcase and celebrate the work of people across our force. We have the opportunity to help warn and inform our communities, support investigations teams in solving crime change behaviour, and inspire through our work in equal measure.
Your role
The overall purpose of the role is to produce communications plans and engaging audience led content, internally and externally, that support the force’s strategic priorities. This will include commissioning graphic design and photography content, writing compelling copy and producing your own audio visual content.
You can expect your working day to be varied and you will be encouraged to be creative, developing new and engaging ways to support organisational and operational challenges and convey the key messages for our force.
A great deal of satisfaction and pride comes from working with people who are really passionate about protecting our communities and whose work has a positive impact on our force and the communities we serve.
To ensure your success you will have:
What can we offer you?
The opportunity to join a successful team, whilst having ownership of your own projects from start to finish, with a great deal of creative freedom. And knowing your work makes a real difference in Fighting Crime, Serving Victims, Valuing Our People and Building Trust - ultimately protecting our communities.
Are you the one?
Our ideal candidate will have the ability to plan, prioritise, implement, monitor and evaluate. You will have a curious nature, with an instinctive ability to mitigate risk and spot opportunities for a compelling story that can inform and inspire others. You will be adept at managing stakeholder and partner relationships both internally and externally.
As part of the Thames Valley Police family you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 24 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme.
