Our Counter Terrorism Policing Investigations team leads terrorism investigations across the south east, as well as a number of the higher risk or complex terrorism investigations in the south west region.

In this role, you will implement strategies to service the needs of highly sensitive, covert and overt Counter Terrorism (CT) operations. You manage covert and overt exhibits in support of Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) investigations.

You will attend terrorism-related incidents such as unexploded and exploded bomb or CBRN scenes, and to take responsibility as a scene examiner for the effective management of such incidents. You provide professional advice on examinations of the related premises, vehicles and locations, ensuring that the forensic strategy set by the CTSIO is delivered.

This role is open to substantive Detective Constables. Due to the nature of the role, you will have proven investigative experience relating to major or serious and organised crime. You must have successfully completed the National Terrorist Forensic Management Course or be willing and able to undertake the course. Good communication skills and knowledge of forensic issues relating to CBRN is a must.

You must be willing and able to work unsociable hours, provide 24 hour cover, to change hours at short notice and participate in call-out rota.

This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.
