Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTP SE) are recruiting for a Digital Forensic Investigator to conduct detailed digital forensic examinations as part of investigations and operations into Terrorism and Domestic Extremism related offences.

This is an exciting role with opportunities to learn and develop your skills in a unique environment. Conducting digital forensic examinations of seized computers, mobile phones and other electronic devices using appropriate ISO17025 accredited processes, methodologies, tools and techniques, you will pass on any relevant information and intelligence to appropriate person(s) and departments, complying with appropriate legislation.

 

You will have the opportunity to attend searches of premises to assist in the seizure and ‘live’ examination of computers/mobile phones and other digital equipment and the capture / recovery of data from the internet and Cloud based services. You will be required to produce technical reports and statements in support of investigations and prepare and present evidence in court.

 

We are looking for applicants with proven experience in computer forensic work and/or relevant computing qualifications (e.g. Computer Forensics Degree or Computer Science Equivalent), plus knowledge of the internet and networking. You will ideally demonstrate technical ability, including knowledge of computer hardware, software and PC architecture, operating systems and principles of data storage, with an understanding of the quality standard ISO 17025, and how it affects the role.

 

To balance these technical attributes, you will need to be a highly motivated team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to enhanced level. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.
