We are looking for a suitably qualified Technician to join our South East Technical Surveillance Unit (SETSU), part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).

You will provide specialised technical services and expert advice in respect of covert surveillance (applying SEROCU and national standards), in support of investigations/operations into serious organised crimes and counter terrorist operations. You will provide technical services, support and guidance to divisional technical and surveillance officers.

You will be HNC qualified in Electronics, Radio or Telecommunications (or equivalent). You will also be able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies with proven use of computer technology and Microsoft packages, constructing and modifying electronic equipment, video, CCTV, Photographic and Electrical/Electronic work. You will have proven ability to work in a secure and confidential environment with the highest standards of integrity; able to recognise sensitive information and maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times. Excellent communication skills and working knowledge of Information Communication Technology is also a must.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and work as part of an On-Call rota covering the SETSU region. Occasionally this may require working away from home. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced vetting checks.

For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or acquire the appropriate security clearances (which may include STRAP) and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
