Thames Valley Police is the largest non-metropolitan Force in England and Wales, covering the counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire with an extensive network of roads and motorways. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Force VIPER Identification Unit, based at Maidenhead, but if needed, will be required to travel to any of the other 4 VIPER office locations. The purpose of this role is to carry out Video Identification procedures in accordance with current law and force policy, ensuring that the Officer in Charge, Crown Prosecution Service and defence solicitors are liaised with and the needs of witnesses are properly catered for.  

A good standard of education is required together with excellent literacy and numeric skills. You will have excellent customer service skills with the ability to work under pressure and engage with people at all levels. Proven ability to prioritise, organise and manage your own time is essential. You will be IT literate and able to learn and use IT packages, including internal databases. Prior knowledge of VIPER procedures, or a willingness and ability to be trained in them, is essential. A full driving licence is considered essential as capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly. The role will require some evening and weekend work as defined by the rota – details available upon request.

Vetting.  All posts require a level of Police Vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The residency requirement is necessary to enable all applicants to be checked in an equitable manner.
