Location: One post at Netley and two posts at Upper Heyford.

You will be part of an established training team responsible for the development and delivery of Taser training to officers across TVP and Hampshire. This includes both initial, refresher and conversion training. A minimum of a L3 training qualification is required, but can be developed once in post. You will, on joining the team undertake a development period to gain competency as a Taser instructor, with onward development into a Taser Lead Instructor.

You will develop and deliver Knowledge & Skills Training, on Conductive Energy Device (Taser), working to the Chief Taser Instructor to ensure that the Forces deliver training in line with standards and licencing requirements set by the College of Policing.

About the Role 

Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to: 

1. To deliver Taser training as designed and written by the College of Policing to operational Police Officers, ensuring the learning objectives are achieved and ensuring accurate records are kept of students and training needs. 

2. To assist with the design and delivery of initial and refresher courses to meet identified needs within the workforce. 

3. To offer appropriate training to students, in order to facilitate learning and understanding, and ensure competent users of Taser that are accredited to a National Standard. 

4. To liaise and consult with other colleagues within the Public Order Department, wider operational units/departments and other forces, and report to the Chief Taser Instructor and Deputy Chief Taser Instructor. 

5. To undertake continuous assessment/validation/evaluation of the training delivery, ensuring that it is appropriate to the needs of individuals, the organisation and is of a consistently high standard. 

6. To maintain a CPD portfolio relevant to your role, and undertake personal performance assessments annually, as set by the College of Policing. 

7. To provide support to other areas of work within the greater Public Order Department during periods of high demand, national emergency, or inactivity in training, with a requirement to work across both force areas at times.

Essential Qualifications 

Educated to QCF Level 3 with Maths & English at QCF Level 2, or to have undertaken significant work related experience that may be deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level.

Desirable Experience 

*Possess a nationally recognised learning and development qualification plus proven experience e.g.  Certificate in Training Practice, Level 3 Learning and Development (Learning & Development Qualifications Curriculum Framework (QCF) 30 Credits minimum), Assessor & Verifier qualifications.  

* Knowledge or experience of subject area 

* Experience in Training needs analysis, design, delivery, assessment and evaluation of training. 

* Sound knowledge of NDM, law, policy and practice in the field of anti-discrimination (e.g. Equality Act 2010). 

* Proven Experience of Team work
