Location can be Taplow/Home Working (Hybrid) or Aylesbury/Home Working (Hybrid) or Kidlington/Home Working (Hybrid).

Applications are invited for a secondment opportunity as a full time Disclosure Officer on the Complex Child Sexual Exploitation Investigation Team within the Major Crime Unit.

You will work as the lead disclosure officer maintaining relationships with the Officer in Charge, Senior Investigating Officer, Crown Prosecution Service, Disclosure Counsel, Legal Services and the Health and Safety Executive.

Under the working smarter principles this will be a hybrid role which can be performed effectively remotely the majority of the time, however Thames Valley Police (TVP) has determined that there are benefits for the individual to come to their designated TVP location on a regular basis as directed by their line manager.

It is essential that you have proven and well evidenced experience in an investigative role and are able to understand the complexities and sensitivities of crime investigation.  You will be required to fulfil the duties of the Disclosure Officer under the Criminal Proceedings and Investigations Act (CPIA) 1996 and the related codes of practice to ensure the unused material in this complex investigation is appropriately dealt with. You should therefore have a good understanding of the duties imposed by the Act and be able to evidence this through previous experience of applying CPIA in criminal cases. Enhanced training will be provided if necessary.  The ability to adapt your communication style to a diverse range of audiences and situations is essential whilst remaining emotionally resilient.  The ability to work on your own initiative and to exercise sound judgement is also essential.

A full driving licence is considered essential as capability to travel is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly.

If you are a permanent member of staff applying for this role, please note it will be offered on a secondment basis. Important: All secondments are assumed supported and that your line manager and Head of Department/Commander or Deputy are aware of your intention to apply. If the secondment is not supported then a strong business rationale must be sent to recruitmentpolicestaff@thamesvalley.police.uk quoting the reference number for the role.

Please note: Shift allowance, on-call or other job related allowances from the previous role will not be protected unless they are attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.

As part of the Thames Valley Police family you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 24 days annual leave per annum pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme.
