In this role you will be responsible for developing, implementing, managing and monitoring the Force’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy. Measuring progress against key objectives and targets relating to the successful delivery of the strategy and associated policies and plans. 

You will assist the Head of Facilities in the delivery of the Force’s strategic direction on environmental sustainability, ensuring it aligns with the forces wider plans and objectives.  You will be responsible for all matters relating to energy resource, waste, water, biodiversity, and sustainable environment and provide support to all areas of the organisation so that they can contribute to the plans.  You will also promote staff awareness on the importance of their contribution to achieving improvements in energy use and sustainability performance for the force. 

The successful candidate will have a Degree in Energy and Sustainability Management or equivalent training, experience and qualification in energy management competencies and have membership of a relevant professional body or organisation.  Sound in-depth knowledge of legislation and regulation relating to environmental management and sustainability with the ability to identify long-term sustainability objectives, and develop appropriate policies, strategies and programmes to deliver these.  Evidence of delivering innovation and engaging positively with continuous change and improvement is required together with experience of purchasing, managing and influencing the consumption of energy and utility services. 

Strong analytical skills are required in order to be able to manage and manipulate performance data, utilising it to drive future improvement. You will be competent in your IT skills and familiar with the use of Microsoft Office suite including the creation and management of Excel spreadsheets.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required with the ability to identify the most appropriate form of communication in any given situation.  You will be adept at building positive, influential and strong relationships with a diverse range of internal and external parties.  A full driving licence is required and to be prepared to travel across Thames Valley when required.  Working hours and level of flexibility will be discussed at interview.
