The South East Regional Prison Intelligence Unit (SERPIT) are looking for an Intelligence Development Officer to join our Intelligence team, based near Gatwick.

SERPIT is responsible for gathering and developing intelligence from Her Majesties Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and other associated establishments relating to national security issues and organised crime.

You will provide high quality research and development packages. You will identify, collate, research, assess, review and present information and intelligence from a wide range of sources on identified individuals and organisations. You will assist in the preparation and presentation of a variety of intelligence or evidential packages.

You will have recent and relevant experience within an intelligence environment and experience of research. You will have experience in collating and assessing information including ability to make concise recommendations based on assessments. Excellent communication, personal responsibility and team working skills are also essential to the role. Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to Developed Vetting (DV) level. Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.
