This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic architecture team supporting Hampshire & Thames Valley Police. This senior role will focus on providing architecture support for the forces key line of business applications focussing on the integrations to both on premise and cloud based services. The role will include exposure to many innovative technologies including, Private Cloud, Public Cloud (SaaS, PaaS & IaaS), Office 365 & Windows

 

The Role

  • Responsible as a subject matter expert and technical design authority for the force records management system; a single, unified, operational policing system that manages information in relation to the core policing entities – people, locations, vehicles, organisations, incidents and property/evidence.
  • Responsible for developing solutions across infrastructure, networks and application environments.
  • Define and exploit new and existing force technologies.
  • Support the research, evaluation, selection and impact assessment of change and new technologies.
  • Proven communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships, with stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Must have capability to travel regularly to different locations across the South East regional Forces.

 

Essential Skills Required

 

  • Enterprise level architecture design experience
  • Experience working in a cross-functional programme team, providing design guidance, leadership and impact assessment as part of a rolling change programme.
  • Knowledge and experience of integration and secure communication between multiple infrastructure systems. e.g. on-premises to other on-premises systems and on-premises to public cloud.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and become a design authority in new technologies.
  • Broad technical expertise & understanding of complex technologies & design.
  • At least 10 years’ experience working within large scale solution design, including:
  • Public cloud platform design and integration (Azure/AWS)
  • Compute, networking, storage & virtualisation (VMware)
  • Microsoft technology Stack including AD, authentication, Windows Server 2012/2016, Windows 8/10.)
  • Security by design concepts and Government Security Classification scheme
  • Proven experience of producing high quality design documentation
  • Experience of operating within a secure environment and awareness of the Government Security Classification Scheme
  • Excellent communication skills, with customers and internal stakeholder, and ability to present ideas and technical solutions to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong leadership and problem solving skills, working with and influencing external vendors, deployment partners, business partners and internal ICT teams.
