Applications are invited for a PIP2 Investigator to work in the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit (DAIU) based at Reading. Successful applicants who are already PIP2 accredited or hold a pass at NIE will commence immediately in the PIP 2 Investigator role at the 3H salary level. Applicants who do not hold an NIE Pass will commence in a PIP1 Investigator role in the 3G entry level 3G salary but will progress to the PIP 2 Investigator role on the 3H salary once an NIE pass mark has been achieved. 

Working as an integral part of a mixed economy team of Police Officers and staff successful applicants will manage and progress the investigation of criminal offences and other incidents/enquiries, maintaining the confidence of victims and witnesses in order to deliver successful outcomes. Acting as OIC of your own caseload your duties will include following up lines of enquiry and completing investigative actions, interviewing suspects in custody, taking statements from victims and witnesses and securing evidence and preparing case papers and accurate and timely prosecution files You will be required to attend court to give evidence. You will be required to work a flexible shift pattern including evenings and weekends. 

It is essential that you have effective communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide audience along with proven analytical and decision making skills. You will also be self- motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision. 

Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly. Due to unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be suitable. For this reason a full driving licence is considered essential for this role.
