 We welcome applications from substantive Detective Sergeants and Detective Constables suitably qualified to apply for promotion.

Our South East Regional Cyber Crime Unit sets out to tackle both cyber-dependent crime and the most complex and serious cyber-enabled crime. The Unit is made up of the Cyber Pursue Team, Cyber Protect and Prevent capabilities.

You will develop and deliver the regional protect and prevent strategy in relation to cybercrime in line with the strategic policing requirement (SPR) and national/regional delivery plans.

You work in partnership with other law enforcement agencies, businesses, academic and voluntary sectors to provide innovative solutions in support of the SPR. You will also be responsible for managing and supervising a team based across the South East.

We are looking for officers with excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Due to the nature of the role, you will have some investigative policing background and be able to demonstrate building evidential cases to a high standard.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to enhanced level. In line with Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), candidates who fail to hold, acquire or maintain this vetting level cannot be offered the post.

All vacancies of Sergeant and above are advertised to substantive and on promotion applicants at the same time; there are different application requirements for Substantive Officers and those Officers applying for Promotion. If you wish to apply you need to have support from Head of Command / Department. Hampshire officers need to complete an AD277 alongside their application via Hampshire HR.

Substantive officers will be shortlisted against the Essential Criteria and should submit an online application form. You will be required to upload your latest PDR (or if no PDR, a recent copy of your CPD record/Focus Feedback meeting) and a copy of your Training Record. You will be also required to upload the Recommendation for Appointment Form (enclosed with the Job Advert) in the ‘Line Managers Approval Form’. Thames Valley Police (TVP) officers who have already passed the TVP Promotion, can apply as a substantive (above application requirements). 

Officers applying on promotion should submit a ‘Why Me, Why Now’ letter which outlines your motivation and suitability for the role at this time. Your evidence should also demonstrate the relevant behaviours, skills, knowledge and experience in relation to your capability at this rank in accordance with the core competencies (CVF) Step up Criteria. The letter must be no more than two (2) sides of A4. The margins must not be modified from 2.54cm. All evidence outside the margins should be removed. You will also be required to upload your latest PDR (or if no PDR, a recent CPD record//Focus Feedback meeting) and the Police Officer Promotion Reference Form.
