We welcome candidates to apply for the role of Regional People Advisor, to become part of the team working to support two specialist regional units that protect communities from the threats of serious organised crime and terrorism. This is a highly generalist role in a busy team where you will have a specific case load across multiple HR disciplines.

You will effectively engage with managers and staff to provide a comprehensive HR advisory service that complies with policy and employment legislation on a wide range of issues, for example recruitment, resourcing, employee relations, flexible working, and career development. Working with colleagues, you will support and develop solutions to specific challenges, driving the people strategy. This will involve undertaking specific projects involving research, analysis, report writing, attending meetings and driving key initiatives.

The successful candidate will be CIPD Qualified (or equivalent) or working towards a Level 5 CIPD Qualification, with proven participation and interest in continued professional development. There is potential for study support to be provided. With experience of working within HR and providing advice to managers and employees on a diverse range of issues, you will be able to act as a point of contact and support others through contentious or complex issues and remain emotionally resilient.

We are committed to becoming the most diverse team in the South East. We encourage interest and applications from candidates of all backgrounds and particularly welcome applications from BAME (black, Asian and minority ethic) candidates to enable us to truly reflect the communities we serve.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may occasionally be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to SC Enhanced level.

Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.
