PIP2 Investigator (Criminal Cyber Unit) (SEROCU)
The Cyber Crime Unit (CCU) specialises in serious and complex investigations concerning those engaged in computer offences, such as network intrusion, hacking, malware attacks, ransomware, and denial of service attacks. Investigations often involve working collaboratively and proactively with internal departments and other law enforcement agencies, executing search warrants, and tracing cryptocurrency. The work is traditional complex investigation but in an exciting and continuously evolving crime type.
The team are looking for a PIP2 Investigator to manage and progress the investigation of cybercrime offences and other incidents/enquiries, working as an integral part of a mixed team of Police Officers and Staff collaborated across the South East region.
This is a hugely varied and challenging role which will see the successful candidate complete investigative actions, interview victims, witnesses and suspects, obtain and review digital evidence, plan and execute search warrants, prepare case files ensuring completeness and delivery in accordance with court deadlines, legislation and force policy, and maintain victim and witness confidence to facilitate successful outcomes.
The successful candidate must have PIP1 accreditation or equivalent experience of working in an investigative role within the criminal justice system and pride themselves on their attention to detail and problem solving skills.
You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
